NORM MACDONALD

This morning I bought tickets to see Norm MacDonald live when he comes to Vancouver on September 12. Norm is one of my favourite comedians and also a good Canadian. I believe he performed in Vancouver in 2011 but I was not able to attend. Most people go to music concerts but I’m way more interested in seeing stand-up comedians live. Over the years, I’ve seen Ellen Degeneres, Adam Sandler, Conan O’Brien, and Jerry Seinfeld (twice) perform. Having said that, I’m terrible at finding out when comedians will be in town for a show. Last year Seth Meyers did one show on a Saturday. I didn’t find out until well after all the seats were sold out. I was pretty sad about that. Seth Meyers is one of my favourite comedians, mostly because of his awesome work at the Weekend Update desk on SNL. Anyways, until I can figure out another way to see Seth again, I’ll have to settle for another former Weekend Update anchor, that being Norm MacDonald.

Norm’s comedy is an acquired taste in my opinion. He is extremely talented and a comedy genius. You might not think so if you just casually took in his work but there’s another layer there for you to discover. Anyways, the above video is from one of his great appearances on Conan O’Brien’s show, one of nine episodes he hosted on The Tonight Show.
