SHOES

Several weeks ago I knew I had holes in the two pairs of shoes that I wear the most. I had the several weeks to buy some new shoes but instead, I did nothing. Well, it rained on Friday, quite heavily and I stupidly wore the one pair that I thought had the smallest hole. I did this despite having a pair of hiking shoes that definitely had no holes. Anyways, I paid the price as the hole provided a gateway for the water on the ground to soak into soles and thus my sock.

I arrived to work with a very wet right sock. I took my shoes off and had to wear my right sock very loosely so that I wasn’t feeling the wet cotton all day. When it was time to go home, my sock was dry again but to prevent my foot from getting wet, I had to wear a plastic bag over my foot, just like the first time I discovered the hole in my shoe. Turns out I’m not the only one who does this.

The shame of having to wear plastic bags over my foot twice was enough to get me to buy shoes on the weekend.
